Sainsbury Centre Seeks to Beef Up Quack Employment Team

Posted on Institute of Psychiatry's online vacancy board. It seems the Sainsbury quackademics have realised that they are a bit light on brain power since being caught out recommending cutting payments to the Surrey and Borders Partnership's garden centre workers without even bothering to do their homework.

Who knows, they may get someone bright this time , someone like Jill Goble for example, who appears to know more about their Government policy led research than they do.

But £47,489 for quack research ......not bad huh?

Details

We would like to invite applications for the post of Research & Development Manager in the Employment Team at the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health. This is a new role within SCMH and will be key to ensuring the organisation achieves its newly defined goals. The successful applicant will develop and implement a research strategy that provides hard evidence of the difficulties people with mental health problems face in getting and keeping employment. Crucially this will lead to the development of new initiatives, policies and practices that will improve the opportunities available to this vulnerable group of people. The post will require solid research experience coupled with a real understanding of how policy and practice can be improved on the ground. SCMH is clear in its aim of making an impact at a national scale – this post will be part of a team that will achieve that aim. For the right candidate it provides an rare opportunity to work with leading experts in the field and for an organisation whose reputation for divisive incisive and relevant work is long established.

"The successful applicant will develop and implement a research strategy that provides hard evidence of the difficulties people with mental health problems face in getting and keeping employment."

Meaning.. Helen Lockett and Dr Bob Groves clearly arent the ' evidence led ' leading experts they have made themselves out to be as they now require someone else to find hard evidence for the barriers to work and retention issues they theorise about.

Watch that salary go straight to one of their pals -i.e. Mz Secker - and the research findings miraculously coincide with the NIMHE millions earmarked to be targetted at ' Employee Discrimination'.

Despite the blog owners embarrassing compliment I would like to make it clear to all benefits agencies that I am truely mad, definitely unemployable and know nuffink...

Yeah it is bound to be sewn up in some jobs for the boys and girls club but only the very rich and the very mad like us are free. (And broke...)

Christine.Carter@sabp.nhs.uk

Dear Ms. Gobles

Yes, Peter Kinsey has recently left the Trust and Ms.Christine Carter (female) has taken over his position on an interim basis. I have copied Christine in on this e-mail for your benefit. The Trust is looking into the issue of therapeutic payments across the Trust. The Trust will respond to you unanswered queries very shortly.

I was on the phone to the Disability Rights Commission helpline earlier. Had to wait ages to get through but the woman went through loads of the DDA with me to see if there is a case that will hold up at a tribunal. A lot of it centres around proving that an employment contract existed and we know that SABP are strenuously denying there were any employment contracts. But they can be verbal. Anyway there is another part of the act she is checking for me to do with discrimination in providing employment services.
Also I have to phone ACAS to find out more on this establishing whether the disabled workers have a claim as employees or not. Also whether a group action would be possible. She said to me that there are a lot of grey areas over this issue and I said the law doesn't seem to have much teeth. Apparently if we can establish the verbal employment contract part then the 'showing less favourable treatment' to the disabled workers would be fairly easy to establish as none of the non-disabled workers had their money cut. To be honest it is all a bit of a longshot to get this issue into a case against the Disability Discrimination Act but we are looking at all the avenues.

Just noticed that blog doesnt display well in Microsoft Internet Explorer. Maps created with Google Maps API dont work in IE either. You know, people are supposed to think," Oh my site doesnt work the way Bill Gates wants it to, I must make it conform to latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer"

My advice is, choose a decent browser.

I was going to post a list of alternative browsers but got sidetracked looking at speech enabled browsers for people with disabilities. When I was a kid I had an Amiga that shipped with speech as standard but now this functionality is sold to people.

So, Dr Bob Groves gets paid at least £47,500 to flag up discrimination , he probably has his wife give him her gas station receipts for expenses too, and yet....
