Highcroft Lifebook Video

While Surrey & Borders , the Surrey PCT and various unaccountable and largely self-interested mental health charities have been wasting time and public money dithering over the future of the Old Moat Garden Centre Paul Brian Tovey and a few other determined people up in Birmingham have got a user led Birmingham Arts group off the ground and Paul's own enabling work - the lifebook project - can be seen in the following video.

The Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Trust runs a commercial garden centre staffed by people with disabilities & recently cut the Â£3 a day payments to these workers and now expects them to work for nothing. SABP has 179 people engaged in similar what it calls ' therapeutic work ' across its various work schemes.
We are campaigning to see that SABP's disabled workers at least get the national minimum wage or if they are on benefits paid at the appropriate permitted work rules rates.

We are also appalled that Surrey & Borders has treated its disabled workers in this way while claiming that its services are User Friendly.

This uncaring 'professional' attitude towards and exploitation of disabled workers isnt just happening in Surrey, it appears to be part of wider DWP and NIMHE policy . Please use the Action Links below to support the campaign and let other people know what is going on.
